Hi Happy New Year 2012 to all.Hope to be interacting more often................
I was Minister of Education from 2005-2008
One of my pet project was for the Children..........it was called The Bridging the Gap(BTG) Project. The Project is being continued to-day.
I am happy that you do not seem to be against the BTG Projectect started by me when i was Minister of Education .Unlike GTU which has gone all out aginst the Project.
THE BTG Project was conceived as an integral part of the strategy to improve the overall quality of education
The rationale behind the project is very simple Pre-School and Lower Primary are two distinct but related stages.B4 the intro of THE Project, children of Pre-School are admiited to STD 1 ,which represents a totally different school environment and educational/social interactions .In fact it represents a emotional and psychological shock for the child and can be very damaging to future development. So the idea is to make the transition smooth and comfortable.
Of course Educators/Parents involvement and contribution is crucial.
Hence the need to carefully plan and implement the project.
I regret that Minister Bunwaree is running after too many hares...instead of focussing his attention to such priorities...
Read my Speech on Launching of the Project at :

Extract......
There must be a smooth transition from an informal place where everything is beautiful, where they are liked and wanted, where they are cared for, to another world where they will have to start fending for themselves, where they will be one among the many, where their needs may not be the priority.
